Butterworth Te Muna Sauvignon Blanc 3rd equal – NZ Wine Rater Tasting 2021

Butterworth ‘Te Muna’ Sauvignon Blanc 2019 - 95pts - "An alluring, broad, riper-style bouquet with buttercups, lemon spray, yellow plum, rockmelon and notes of creme caramel, toast and butter. Ripe, delicious, textural, well-poised wine with racy acidity. A wine with depth, charm, charisma and judicious oak handling. What's not to like?"

- NZ Wine Rater, Steve Bennett MW & Lynnette Hudson.

"There's a continuation of the trend in recent years where New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is evolving to a new level of flavour complexity and structural subtlety, resulting in some captivating wines. No longer is there a plethora of labels that taste pretty much the same. There's a broad range of styles emerging from herbaceous and crisp to decadently fruity with softer acidity and a growing number of vinous, textural, food-friendly wines. Superior site selection, lower vineyard yields, indigenous yeast ferment, extended lees-contact and prudent use of barrels are all leaving their mark."
